This program aims to meet the needs of Hispanic immigrant women by helping them help themselves. The program focuses on community outreach to organize women and advocate for their rights. The women’s group meets regularly.
The program fills a critical need for these immigrant women, who typically work in low-wage jobs such as factories, restaurants, and as house cleaners, earning only $5 to $8 an hour. They often battle traumatic memories of war and/or domestic violence and have limited education. Many are undocumented, single mothers.
Entre Nosotras Latinas is run by volunteers. Events have included celebrations of International Day of the Woman, a workshop on self-esteem, social trips, and presentations focusing on women’s health.
