Honoring three decades of service to immigrants
In 1993, Blanca Molina and three friends, all refugees from El Salvador’s civil war, began meeting with fellow Latino immigrants in a church in Hudson County. Their mission: to help immigrants integrate into their new home, and organize to advocate for legal immigration status.
Since that simple beginning, Centro Comunitario CEUS has helped thousands of Latino immigrants. We’ve taught English language and Spanish literacy classes, hosted women’s empowerment groups, and distributed food aid to low-income households.
CEUS is one of the few organizations in New Jersey offering low-cost legal services to help immigrants gain legal immigration status and avoid deportation. And since COVID-19, we’ve worked with the New Jersey Department of Health to educate immigrants on vaccines and other health concerns.
